About Beal Homes

Today the family has grown into a portfolio of Beal-owned companies developing residential and commercial schemes, land dealing, investing in property and farming.

The family originate from Holderness in East Yorkshire and came from a farming background before moving to Hull in the 19th Century and becoming established in building activities.

Coincidentally the family are again farming nearly 550 aces in Holderness.

John and Raymond Beal came from a building background - 5 generations of the Beal family had owned building businesses before them. Today, Managing Director, Richard Beal, is the seventh generation of the family who have only worked for themselves and for no one outside their family.

Deep rooted history

1968

John and Raymond Beal, then 28 and 24 respectively, founded Beal Developments starting by building two shops and a house in Hedon.
Hedon Road

The company moves from its country office to Tower House Lane on Hedon Road, Hull. By then the company had become firmly established and had completed over 420 homes.

Manor Park milestone

Beal Homes completes 199 homes at the East Riding village of Preston. The project is a major stepping stone in the progressive development of the company. Other developments follow in Market Weighton, Hedon and Hull.
1994

Beal Homes is the second developer to build homes at Kingswood, a major, mixed-use development and a flagship in the regeneration of the city of Hull. In 1994 this was a pioneering move, and Beal Homes has gone on to complete numerous developments and over 1000 new homes at Kingswood.
Raymond Beal retires

John Beal and Richard Beal bought the shares of Raymond Beal, to take joint ownership of the company. Raymond sadly died in 2003.

Richard Beal becomes Managing Director

Branching out

Beal Holdings move into purpose built new premises on Hedon Road, Hull. The then newly formed holding company, also acquires Eastman Securities Limited of Lincoln, thus satisfying the company's long held objective of developing in Lincolnshire.
The Landings complete

A 13,000 sq ft mixed-use retail and office development at Burton Waters Marina, Lincoln. Including a £1 million 100-cover over water restaurant scheme, built at Burton Waters Marina in Lincoln

Sunday Times Top 100

Beal Holdings' continued growth and profitability saw it placed in the Top 100 of the Sunday Times Fastest Growing Privately Owned Companies. The group further extended its land bank acquiring land in Nafferton and Willerby, East Yorkshire, and secured further options in Lincolnshire including a 40 acre site in Waddington.
Bucking the trend

Despite the difficult trading conditions of the UK economy, the Group continued to buck the trend and achieve its set financial targets for the year. Land acquisitions still continued at pace and new developments were started at Stallingborough and Branston in Lincolnshire.
2010

Richard Beal acquired the full shares from founder John Beal who retired from the business. By then the company had completed nearly 1800 houses.

Moving up

Beal Homes completes a new £1.5 million purpose-built head office and Customer Selection Studio at the Bridgehead Business Park close to the Humber Bridge at Hessle. As part of the unique, innovative house buying experience the Customer Selection Studio allows home buyers to customise every aspect of their home and choose from an extensive range of fixtures, fittings, upgrades and home technology options.
Award-winners

Beal Homes receives the prestigious ‘Best Customer Satisfaction Initiative’ Award at the 2015 Housebuilder Awards. Commenting on the win MD Richard Beal said: “I’d like to pay tribute to all the Beal Homes team – their hard work and dedication to customer service has enabled us to beat competition from around the country to secure this award. I’d also like to thank our many homebuyers whose positive feedback about their experience of buying a home from Beal so impressed the judges.”
2015

Appointed as lead development partner to complete the regeneration of the Fruit Market in Hull. Working alongside The Wykeland Group as ‘Wykeland Beal’ this is an incredibly unique and exciting development which will be brought to fruition using local tradespeople, suppliers and contractors. "It really will be the produce of Hull. We are incredibly proud to be involved."
