Tim and Jackie Thackeray were looking for a retreat not too distant from Oundle, but far enough away to take a complete break from work each week, when they came across The Quays, Beal Homes’ development of new homes at the Burton Waters Marina near Lincoln.

“We were looking for an escape where we could chill out and we both love water, so we looked at waterside developments around the country. We thought that Burton Waters was magnificent, we didn’t find anything else to match it,” explains Tim. “Coming here for a couple of days is like having a holiday every week,” adds Tim.

The couple purchased their three storey home at The Quays ‘off plan’, which allowed them to take full advantage of Beal Homes’ commitment to offering buyers flexibility in home design.

The Thackerays sat down with Beal’s engineers and made significant changes to the original home design. “These were not just cosmetic changes, but major alterations to meet our vision for our home here,” confirms Tim. “Beal Homes do a very good job and are really attentive to customers’ requirements.”

The Thackeray’s experience of what Tim describes as ‘the wonderful Burton Waters lifestyle’, has persuaded the couple to invest in a further two properties here. The uniqueness of the place, the peace of mind provided by the 24 hour gated security and the superb outdoor life are a winning combination, he says, which should attract a decent rental income and the opportunity for capital growth.
